Based in Lancaster and supporting clients across the UK, our team works with property owners, landlords, developers, public-sector organisations, healthcare estates and building professionals who need accurate advice, practical recommendations and reliable support.

From EPCs, SAP and SBEM calculations to measured surveys, MEES advice, Display Energy Certificates and retrofit planning, our team combines technical knowledge with a straightforward, client-focused approach.

Jonathan is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), with over 20 years’ experience as both a surveyor and consultant to the building industry.

He is a qualified energy assessor, for existing and new buildings, and employs modern surveying techniques to apply his craft. These include CAD, 3D-simulation and building information modelling, as well as the use of unmanned aircraft for aerial surveys. In the past, Jonathan has trained up aspiring energy assessors and created bespoke courses for City & Guilds qualifications. He has also worked as an RICS counsellor for the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) programme and as an advisor for the government’s Green Deal.

“I’m keen to provide an open, honest and top-quality service to my clients,” says Jonathan. “It’s building those relationships that really makes my work special, along with seeing my clients reap the benefits of a job well done.”

With a background in the retail sector, Caroline brings attention to detail and a drive for customer satisfaction to Murton & Co. She works closely with all our clients to keep an open line of communication, which helps operations run smoothly.

Kelly joined us in October 2022 to support the team with our largest client.

The bulk of Kelly’s role involves liaising with team members, assessors and clients to arrange site visits and organise travel.

A self-confessed Excel enthusiast, Kelly loves working with spreadsheets almost as much as with people.

“No one’s getting out of here alive so enjoy life,” is Kelly’s favourite mantra and she believes that listening to clients while being friendly and kind is the key to excellent customer service.

Ed joined us in October 2025 as a SAP Assessor, bringing with him over two years of specialist SAP experience and a decade-long background as a site-based RdSAP Assessor. During those ten years, Ed worked closely with landlords and homeowners, advising on practical ways to improve property efficiency and boost Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings. He also became a trusted voice in the industry, delivering talks and advice sessions for the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) and local property professionals’ organisations.

Ed carries out SAP and overheating assessments for new builds, extensions, and conversions. Known for his analytical mindset and creative problem-solving, he enjoys using SAP to help clients turn ambitious designs into compliant, energy-efficient realities. Always keen to expand his expertise, Ed is currently developing his skills further and will soon be able to undertake Thermal Bridge Calculations, yet another string to his bow.

“I take a very analytical approach and work through every detail until it’s absolutely right,” says Ed. “I’m a real stickler for accuracy, which is reflected in my 100% audit pass rate.”

When he’s not immersed in energy calculations or spending time with his family, Ed can be found at his local judo club. A passionate martial artist, he proudly holds a black belt in Judo, proving his discipline and focus extend well beyond the workplace.
