Meet the team

Jonathan Murton
Managing Director
Jonathan is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), with over 20 years’ experience as both a surveyor and consultant to the building industry.
He is a qualified energy assessor, for existing and new buildings, and employs modern surveying techniques to apply his craft. These include CAD, 3D-simulation and building information modelling, as well as the use of unmanned aircraft for aerial surveys. In the past, Jonathan has trained up aspiring energy assessors and created bespoke courses for City & Guilds qualifications. He has also worked as an RICS counsellor for the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) programme and as an advisor for the government’s Green Deal.
“I’m keen to provide an open, honest and top-quality service to my clients,” says Jonathan. “It’s building those relationships that really makes my work special, along with seeing my clients reap the benefits of a job well done.”

Caroline Lavelle
Operations Director
With a background in the retail sector, Caroline brings attention to detail and a drive for customer satisfaction to Murton & Co. She works closely with all our clients to keep an open line of communication, which helps operations run smoothly.
“The commitment to improving all areas of the business is something I love about the company,” says Caroline. “I care deeply about quality and excellence. I know how badly poor service impacts clients and their businesses, so it’s a great feeling when a client expresses satisfaction with the service they have received from Murton & Co, and even better when they place further instructions with us or we get a referral via a happy customer.”

Kelly Gannon
Administration Manager
Kelly joined us in October 2022 to support the team with our largest client.
The bulk of Kelly’s role involves liaising with team members, assessors and clients to arrange site visits and organise travel.
A self-confessed Excel enthusiast, Kelly loves working with spreadsheets almost as much as with people.
“No one’s getting out of here alive so enjoy life,” is Kelly’s favourite mantra and she believes that listening to clients while being friendly and kind is the key to excellent customer service.

Mark Jackson
Energy Assessor
Blackburn-based Energy Assessor Mark joined Murton & Co in November 2022 to help Jonny cope with the increased demand for client surveys and reports.
When surveying locally, Mark prepares the relevant documents and floorplans before arriving on site to carry out the assessment. The survey includes measuring, photographic evidence of findings such as boiler type, heating systems, ventilation systems etc. Mark then processes the data using specialist software to produce an energy certificate, which includes modelling the building’s dimensions, wall heights, windows, heating, etc. to produce an accurate energy assessment.
Mark enjoys the variety of work he is involved with, whether it’s building construction, being on site or in the office. He also likes the opportunity to work away for a week or so, also meeting clients and explaining the processes.
To keep himself motivated, Mark has two sayings he always reverts to. “There’s always better days” for when times are challenging,” and “where there is everything to gain and nothing to lose, by all means try.”
Communication is Mark’s key to great customer service. “Good news or bad, clients need to be updated.”
