SBEM: John Williams Time to spare for SPAR
Any architect will tell you that SBEM calculations are crucial. Mistakes can be costly, particularly if they lead to non-compliance issues, so architects need to ensure the calculations are accurate and delivered in a timely manner.
Architect John Williams, of Harry Walters and Livesey Architects, has been using Murton & Co for several construction projects across the north of England. Most projects come under the auspices of James Hall & Co, who control SPAR convenience stores throughout the region. “Murton & Co came recommended to us,” explains John. “We’ve agreed a standard fee and they’re now the only surveyors we use. Jonny is very professional and always delivers. He never comes back with a problem, always a solution.” *
A quick turnaround
Murton & Co were instructed to provide SBEM calculations for several SPAR developments that were nearing completion. A quick turn-around was therefore essential to ensure there were no delays to the completion and hand-over from contractor to developer, and subsequently to the end-user. “The nature of these things is that our designs can sometimes come in a little late, but Jonny always turns the job around very quickly,” says John. “He delivers a first-class service and I’ve never known him miss a deadline yet.”
The calculations demonstrated that all the developments were compliant with Part L2A Building Regulations and achieved an ‘A’ rating on the EPC.
